The Manila Learning Event which was organised by the Resource Management in Asia-Pacific Program (RMAP) at ANU and the Philippines Sustainable Development Network (PSDN), and sponsored by Communities and Small-scale Mining (CASM), had a broad focus on sustainable livelihoods in the ASM sector.
The Manila Learning Event, which was part of a first phase, took place in Manila in 2005. The focus was on ‘conflicts between state and community interests’ in the ASM sector in the Asia and Pacific region. The Manila Learning Event brought together a large number of participants representing a wide range of stakeholders involved in the ASM sector in individual countries andproduced a series of documents which can be found here.
